The Bounce song sketchpad with a song open: a chord progression, a drum groove, two vocal takes, and the lyrics beside them
Track it

Scratch vocals, as many takes as you need

Hit record and sing over the loop, with a count-in to get you in. Every take is kept, so you can pick the best one, trim its ends on the timeline, and stack harmonies on tracks of their own. A quick timing check keeps your takes in time with the track.

Lyrics, synced to the sections

Each section gets its own lyrics, with its chords above them and a syllable count on every line to help with phrasing. The lyric sheet follows the playhead, so you always see the section you’re in.

Shape it

Arrange the whole song

Lay out verses, choruses and a bridge, reorder them by dragging, and reuse a section wherever it repeats. Modulate any section, like a key change into the last chorus, and see the form and length at a glance.

Chords that fit your key

Build progressions from the diatonic chords, with 7ths, sus and borrowed chords a click away. Pick a sound, voicing and arpeggiator pattern.

Grooves to write over

Drum patterns from four-on-the-floor to half-time to drum & bass, with fills and a sparse, normal or busy feel for each section.

Start from a known progression

Open a template built on a progression everyone knows, from “Creep” to “I Feel Love”, and change it until it’s yours. Or start blank.

On your phone, too

The full app works on a phone, with a chord pad and one-tap recording. Catch the idea when it turns up, then pick it up at your desk.

Questions

Is Bounce really free?

Yes. There’s no price, no trial, no ads and no account. Open it and start a song.

Can I export my song to Logic, Ableton or FL Studio?

Yes. Export MIDI of the chords and drums with the tempo, time signature and key; a WAV mix of the whole song; stems, one WAV per track in a single zip; or any vocal take on its own. They drop straight into Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, GarageBand, Reaper or any other DAW.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Bounce runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with a chord pad sized for your thumb on a phone. Recording needs microphone access, and headphones keep the chords out of your vocal take.

Where are my songs saved?

In your browser, on your device. Save sketches to your library to come back to, and back any of them up, recordings included, to a single .bounce file you can open on another device.

Which keys, tempos and time signatures can I use?

Any major or minor key, from 30 to 300 BPM, in 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8 through to 5/4, 7/8 and 15/16. Any section can move to its own key, for a key change into the last chorus.

Can it help me find a chord progression?

Yes. The chords that fit your key are laid out to pick from, with 7ths, sus and borrowed chords a click away, and you can start a section from a common progression or open one of 13 song templates built on progressions everyone knows.

Does Bounce track me?

Only anonymously. It counts visits and a few actions, like exports, with GoatCounter, which uses no cookies and keeps nothing personal. Your songs and recordings never leave your device unless you export them.
